Lawrence Rifkin is a physician and a writer. His writings explore the intersection of science, humanism, and meaning. He has been published by the National Academy of Sciences, the Humanist, Contemporary Pediatrics, and Medical Economics, in which he was named the Grand Prize winner of the Doctors' Writing Contest. He is a recurring contributor to Free Inquiry magazine.
